Illustrated talk about urban dance

La Nau

Free access until full capacity

Illustrated Talk about Urban Dance which combines music, video, photography, word and movement to offer a dynamic discourse and accessible to all the publics: which enlightens the experts as those who want to start with this topic.

Instead of offering a simple catalogue of dance styles or a chronology of facts, Transmissions connects the past with the present to discover which are the transversal axis which allows to understand the urban dances in all their dimensions.

Where, when and why these forms of expressions were generated? How do they keep developing nowadays? These are some of the questions that the talk presents, as the impact that they have had not only in the dancing field but in the ensemble of the popular culture at the end of the XX century and in the current days.

Transmissions was born in 2015 when it was detected the need of the public to understand better the Hip Hop culture in general and the urban dancing in particular.

The dancers Guille Vidal-Ribas and Javier Casado, in co-production with Mercat de les Flors and the Hop Festival, created this dissemination project with the aim of explaining and recomposing the history of urban dance, with the highlight on the cultural processes and the human and artistic values that form them. Both are dancers of urban dancing and graduates in Humanities and in History of Art, respectively.
