Black is a dance performance piece based on improvisation and inspired by choreographic elements of key styles of the African urban scene, such as coupé-decalé, afrohouse, azonto or krump, with which the artist intends to reflect and express how it feels to be black in our ‘modern’ society.

Biography:

Oulouy, from the Ivory Coast and based in Barcelona, is an artist specialising in urban dance. He takes part in battles all over the country and has a long career as a teacher in different dance spaces in Barcelona. He is co-director of the project I love this dance media. He is an expert in styles such as hip hop, house dance and various modern African dances, as well as coupé-décale and ndombolo, with a strong emphasis on freestyle. With ‘Black’ Oulouy received second prize in the 19th Burgos & New York International Choreography Competition in the Urban Dance category.
