With a critical and reflective approach to contemporary society, 10 Sentidos strives in each edition to highlight issues that concern our community and to emphasize the power of art as a catalyst for social action. Each year, the program is structured around a theme that fosters open reflection from the perspectives of the various participating artists, engaging in dialogue with the public and the community.
Choreographers and dancers Meritxell Barberá and Inma García, from the Taiat Dansa company, are the founders and directors of the 10 Sentidos Festival, their most ambitious project as cultural managers. In 2010, they launched GmExpresa, a company dedicated to managing and promoting cultural projects, design, and communication. Thus, their current professional trajectory combines choreographic creation, Taiat Dansa, with their cultural management work, which they coordinate and develop through GmExpresa.
The 10 Sentidos Festival is committed to exploring new forms of artistic communication, generating knowledge, and fostering a space open to interaction between artists, society, and individuals. Contemporary creation, research, interdisciplinarity, and cross-cutting approaches are central to the Festival, an event fully open to the search for new codes, emerging artists, and established works, as well as the internationalization of proposals alongside local and national initiatives. The aim is to create a dialogue between artists, audiences, spectators, associations, communities, schools, students, and educational institutions, serving as a showcase for the performing arts in Valencia.
We celebrate our 15th anniversary. Three lustrums of contemporary activism, critical spirit, and reflection have solidified this event as a vital voice for the issues that stir our community. During this time, we have learned that art is not only a reflection of reality, but also a catalyst capable of articulating collaborative practices, processes of social intervention, and inclusive experiences that transform our perspective.
Following an edition dedicated to recognizing life in our environment, Naturaleza Viva Vol_02 emerges as an organic and urgent evolution. If the previous edition reconnected us with the human-environmental bond, this new one places us at the heart of active resilience. It is an invitation to delve deeper into collective responsibility, positioning culture not only as a narrator of ecological impact, but as the foundation upon which to build truly sustainable ways of life.
In the current context of climate emergency, we propose a culture of care: artistic projects that explore the connections between bodies and landscape, that wander through the history of our cities, that listen to the cry of the glaciers, and that rescue the botanical memory of our ancestors.
In Naturaleza Viva Vol_02, we seek the links where ecology embraces dance and where economics yields to humanism. We believe in live arts that not only denounce collapse but also celebrate the birth of the new, demonstrating that creativity is the most renewable and powerful resource we possess. Environmental responsibility is, above all, an act of love and justice toward the future. On this special anniversary, we reaffirm our commitment: to reinvent resistance through beauty and practice. We propose a festival that is an ecosystem in itself, where each performance is a seed and each spectator an agent of change.
