Raquel André works by accumulation. For seven years she has been meeting strangers in unknown flats in various cities around the world. With them, she shared an intimacy that she recorded in photographs. In her Collection of Lovers Raquel has already collected 287 lovers.
In this Lovers’ Exhibition, Raquel André gives a sound guided tour of a house-labyrinth lined with about 1000 of the more than 7000 images in her archive.
In collaboration with the set designer and architect José Capela, this performative installation proposes to reactivate vertigo in the face of what we do not know, in a relationship with the artist’s memory. What is the entrance door? Raquel André invites each spectator to get lost in an infinite space of intimacy, which we do not know where it begins or ends.
