La Vila is Daniel Lumbreras’ third album, produced by Pau Vallvé and released in the spring of 2017. It was awarded by the magazine MondoSonoro as the best record published in Catalonia that year, and defined as an original and innovative album full of an unusual magic. A work that has allowed Daniel to tour all over Spain and start playing in European festivals.
The music of Daniel Lumbreras is difficult to classify, as it has hints of African music, Celtic, Brazilian or even Sufi songs or Raï music. But the base is still Western folk pop.
One of his main distinctive features is that he sings improvising phonemes. Voice is played as if it were an instrument, focusing on the expressiveness of sound. Here lies the universality of his proposal: he does not sing in any language, but everyone can understand him.
