“We tried today to get rid of some theatrical elements. We leave behind the stage, almost all the lighting, the grandstand, the fourth wall, the stage costumes… What is left of one of our plays when you take all that away? What happens if we go back to the idea of a few actors very close to the audience and a few words? Lately we’ve been getting back to stage design and plotting, but from the beginning of this process we felt that ‘Future Lovers’ should have a naked, intimate and punk version, in which all the expressive force simply falls on these young people. Let’s see how the teenagers dance tonight, how they laugh, how they keep on pretending nobody is looking at them, in this unplugged version.”
