Sueños reales de cuerpos posibles

José Galán

11th May / 7:30pm

Plaza del Ayuntamiento

Inspired by artists with disabilities throughout the history of flamenco, this choreographic research work reassesses the possible bodies on stage, and invites us to think about the established canons of art. It is a risky, courageous and transgressive proposal. With an atypical aesthetic that breaks stereotypes, prejudices and clichés, it highlights creative freedom and diversity as fundamental values.

“It is about a continuous battle going through different emotions until conflicts get to an end and empower the two characters”.

José Galán is a dancer, teacher, choreographer and researcher. He is a forefather of inclusive flamenco and runs his own company since 2010.

In 2012 the Compañía José Galán is awarded the Andalusian Prize for Good Practices in consideration of people with disabilities. In 2016, it was awarded the ONCE Solidarity Prize in Andalusia. It has a dozen shows which have toured internationally. José Galán has achieved that inclusive flamenco has a regular place in the programmes of different prestigious festivals. His last major success was in 2018 when he created and choreographed the first inclusive flashmob in the history of flamenco that inaugurated the Seville Biennial, dedicated to diversity.
