Cul de Sac

May 13th, 19:00h

Palau de les Arts

Maybe one day will come the first step. As far as possible.

Samuel Beckett  – L’Inomable

The title Cul de Sac is indicative of the conceptual universe of the piece: the physical and mental limits that oppose to the desires of the fulfilment of every human being. The dance assumes certain narrative nature and introduces us to a community of beings confined between four walls, forced to a social agreement, but, above all, to find the freedom in their inside. Cul de Sac exports the imaginary of the sculptor Juan Muñoz, giving life to their monochromatic figures – grey gunmetal – and providing of movement to the tensions between individuality and society that their installations suggest.

The caring of the plastic, that could be considered as one the identity signs of Kor’sia, reaches their top with this piece, where the light, set and wardrobe allied to recreate a parallel dystopia to our reality, in which, nevertheless, there is still an opened window to hope. The dance is crossed by the fine arts, but not only.

Cul de Sac obtained the first award Residencia de Creación in the XXième Concours Choréographique Jeunes Compagnies “Les Synodales” of Sens (France).

Antonio de Rosa and Mattia Russo (both awarded with Premio Positano 2016 and former dancers in the CND) together with Giusepe Dagostino form KOR’SIA: a collective that was born from the necessity of communicating through the body. The dance is created in parallel to a work of dramaturgy, understood as fabric of actions. In that way, they use elements from the cinema, the photography, literature and the sculpture to develop their own language that goes beyond the limits of the verbal.

From its birth in 2015, KOR’SIA has created the duet Yellow Place; Cul de Sac, inspired in the universe of the sculptor Juan Muñoz; Human, about the Universal Declaration of the Human Rights and The Lamb, which guiding thread is the music of J.S.Bach. With all of them they have toured around in the Festival Les Synodales (Francia), Festival Dantzaldia, Festival Gender Bender of Bolonia, Expo Venice, Tanzplattform in Bern, Festival Agitart, Festival PRISMA de Panamá, Madrid en danza, Pabellón de España de la Expo de Milán, Teatro Comunale di Modena, Museo Universidad de Navarra, Teatro Studio Bolzano, Museo De Bellas Artes de Bilbao o Matadero Madrid. KOR’SIA collaborates with other organizations as the Compañia Nacional de Danza or Spectare, dedicated to the production and communication of projects or scenic arts.
