¿Vale la pena una vida sin cultura?

Fundación Cañada Blanch

May 13th | 19:00h

Length: 60′

What role does cultural creation play in a world as hyperaccelerated as the one we inhabit? What corners can art and reflection inhabit in an environment that demands constant instantaneity, in an ecosystem in which only the now exists? How to let oneself be carried away by imagination, wonder and possibility if a savage utilitarianism triumphs around us? Would it be possible to live without culture around us? And, if so, would it be worth going through an existence in which there is no space for creativity?

Moderator: Lucía Márquez

Speakers: Alberto Feijóo, Cristina Celda and Tono Vizcaíno

Lucía Márquez says that she is a journalist graduated from the University of Valencia, but what she really does is to read, talk and write non-stop (about everything, in general, and about cultural matters, whatever that may be, in particular). Currently, she collaborates with various written and audiovisual media. She is also working on her doctoral thesis on the new social discourses around work.

Alberto Feijóo (Alicante, 1985) is a collector, accumulator, apprentice and visual artist interested in the field of photography and its relationship with other disciplines such as collage, installation, design and book publishing. Her work has been exhibited at IVAM Centre Julio González Valencia, Centro Conde Duque Madrid, LABoral Centro de Arte de Gijón, Centro Cívico Can Felipa in Barcelona, Fotomuseum Winterthur or The Photographers’ Gallery in London.

Cristina Celda has a degree in Information Sciences, Journalism, from the Polytechnic University of Valencia. She holds a Master’s Degree in Communication and New Technologies Management from the COSO Foundation. She has been the communications director of the Mainel Foundation since 2005. In addition, she is currently studying a degree in Art History. In 2021 she obtained a diploma in Transversal Approach to Culture in International Cooperation and for Sustainable Development from the Complutense University of Madrid.

Tono Vizcaíno has a degree in History and a PhD in Archaeology from the University of Valencia. His field of specialization is Public Archaeology, in particular the study of the uses and meanings that the past and heritage have for the society of the present. He has worked in institutions such as the Museum of Prehistory of Valencia, the European Research Council of the European Commission or the Spanish Academy in Rome. He currently works as a freelancer in the field of heritage and museum management.
